Disney’s live-action remake of their animated masterpiece Mulan composed by Niki Caro and starring Liu Yifei from China, has filming locations at New Zealand and China in August of 2018.
The majority of Disney film was produced within New Zealand, such as in Ahuriri Valley, the Omarama Clay Cliffs, Poolburn, and Mount Cook, according to the New Zealand Film Commission’s Head of Incentives, Catherine Bates.
There are, however, some specific filming locations that are in China which is the way to go since the plot that the filmmaker tells is influenced by an old Chinese mythology of Hua Mulan. Mulan’s home town is Xiamen and also the capital city is Xiamen, which was the home of Emperor is Xiangyang in the early days of China.
Ahuriri Valley, New Zealand
The gorgeous New Zealand landscape is never free of advertisements. It was presented to cinema-goers by filming crews from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Many of the locations used to film the live-action adaptation Mulan were inside The Waitaki District in New Zealand.

The Walt Disney Studios unveiled the trailer that first aired for the film which was filming at Omarama in the Ahuriri Valley, near Omarama in the year before. A total of 900 people were employed in the Ahuriri Valley region within the Mackenzie Basin for about a month during spring.
Omarama Clay Cliffs and Ahuriri Valley were believed to be areas, but an Disney spokeswoman who spoke to me after the crews had left the area last year has confirmed that Poolburnwas was also in use. “
